30 OCTOBER 2026 · HANDPICKED FOR EVERY AGE

Hi everyone,

Christmas is coming, and we’re already keeping an eye out for festive days out, relaxed performances and activities to share with you. We’ll be looking beyond the lovely photos to find the details that matter, like how busy it might be, what support is available and how much it costs.

This week, we’ve found seven upcoming events in and around London, a little discovery for the child who always has a toy car in their hand, and some free benefits support that might come in handy. There’s a calm sensory play session near Queen’s Park, plus a fireworks option for those who enjoy the noise and sparkle.

Whether you’re autistic yourself or looking for someone you support, we’re glad you’re here. We hope you find something you’re excited about, something useful to save, or something to pass on to a friend.

And if there’s something you’d love us to find, just hit reply. We’d love to hear what you’re into and what would make getting out and doing it a little easier.

01 / THINGS TO DO

Follow the interest.

Children: World of Wheels Club

Toy-car tracks spread across a hall at World of Wheels Club

Hove & Sussex · Paid, book ahead · Especially suited to ages 3 to 5

World of Wheels came to us through a submission on our website, and this one immediately caught our attention. Our son loves cars, so a room full of wheels and tracks sounds pretty fantastic to us. We can already imagine how much he’d enjoy it.

We’d love to find more activities like this, built around the things someone already loves. Whether that’s cars, gaming, music or something very specific, that interest can be the whole reason to go.

Founder Lisa was inspired by her autistic son’s interests. SEND Racers are welcome, with regular Quiet Sessions and options for younger and older children.

The detail that matters: SEND concessions require DLA or PIP evidence. Check your chosen event’s venue, times and quiet-session arrangements before booking.

A free option for families: Young V&A

Free entry, no booking needed. Ask about the sensory bags for building, colour and pattern, or pause in the Reading Room. Bags are subject to availability and ordinary visits can be busy.

A Brent family find: Punchdrunk Enrichment

Punchdrunk Enrichment Stores, Wembley · Free · Best suited to ages 7 to 11, with all welcome

For families who enjoy stories and making things, this nature-themed Family Day brings together storytelling about nature and sound, creative activities and ideas for caring for the planet.

The relaxed session runs from 11.30am to 1pm: fewer families, reduced sound and lighting, and a BSL interpreter. A visual guide is available through the event page. Spaces in this session are limited, so book the appropriate time slot.

Other sessions run from 10am to 11.30am, 2pm to 3.30pm and 3.30pm to 5pm. You can arrive at any point within your chosen session.

Access: wheelchair-accessible venue with 800mm door widths, accessible toilets and baby changing. There is no parking on site.

02 / SEVEN UPCOMING EVENTS

Dates worth putting in the diary.

All dates below are in 2026. Published dates do not guarantee available tickets. Follow the organiser’s link for current booking options.

Explore plant textures and soundscapes on a 60-minute tour, then join a 30-minute plant workshop. One essential companion can attend with the appropriate ticket, without workshop materials.

3. Tower Bridge: Relaxed Opening

Tower Bridge reflected in the River Thames

Saturday 14 November · 9.30am to 11.30am · Tower Bridge · Included in paid attraction entry
For: neurodivergent visitors of different ages, with families, friends and carers welcome.

Fewer visitors, quieter soundscapes and switched-off hand dryers. Book ahead. The entrance queue is outside on a working bridge, so expect traffic noise on arrival.

4. London Autism Group Charity: Activity Day

Saturday 21 November · 1pm to 4pm · Holy Sepulchre Church, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1A 2DQ · Free
For: autistic adults.

A free event specifically for autistic adults, with creative, social and relaxing activities. We picked this for the chance to meet people as well as take part. Check the session’s confirmed programme and attendance guidelines before going.

5. British Library: Agatha Christie relaxed hours

Sunday 6 December · Entry at 10am, 10.30am or 11am · St Pancras · Free, booking essential
For: visitors aged 14+, including adults and older adults, with family or carers welcome.

A quieter, reduced-capacity visit for mystery lovers, with a visual story beforehand. Everyone needs a ticket; the wider Library stays open to the public.

6. Queen’s Park Library: Sensory Stay and Play

Saturday 7 November · 10am to 11.30am · 666 Harrow Road, W10 4NE · Free, no booking required
For: children up to 11 of all abilities, including children with SEND, with a parent or carer.

A local option for families who would enjoy a calmer morning: light tubes, kinetic toys and a sensory pop-up tent. The library advises no more than five children with their adults at a time to avoid overcrowding. Children must be accompanied throughout. Another session is listed for 21 November.

7. Wembley & Harrow Fireworks: a louder option

Saturday 7 November · Byron Park, Peel Road, Harrow, HA3 7QX · Fireworks approximately 7.45pm · Evening tickets required

For anyone who enjoys the spectacle, this display combines fireworks with music, a pre-show, food stalls and fairground rides. Despite the Wembley name, the event is in Harrow.

The sensory detail: this is a mainstream fireworks event, with loud bangs, music and bright flashes. No relaxed or low-noise session is advertised on the page. Free entry from noon to 3pm is for the daytime event, not the evening fireworks, and the fairground may still be noisy.

One thing to make planning easier

What does “relaxed” actually mean?

When we’re looking at an outing, “relaxed” is a helpful starting point, but we still want the details. Before booking, these are three questions worth asking:

  • Will there be fewer people, quieter sound, different lighting, or a combination?

  • Can we step out for a break and come back in?

  • Is there a visual guide or a few photos showing what to expect?

You could copy this into an email: “Hi, we’re interested in your relaxed session. Could you tell us what changes during the session, whether there’s somewhere to take a break, and whether we can leave and re-enter?”

A clearer picture beforehand makes it easier to decide whether something suits you or someone you support.

04 / WHAT SHOULD WE FIND NEXT?

Help us shape our Christmas finds

What’s the one thing that makes a festive outing difficult for you or someone you support?

Crowds, music, queues, cost, or simply not knowing what to expect? Hit reply and tell us. A sentence is plenty. We’ll use what you share to guide what we look for, and we’ll ask before quoting anyone in a future issue.

And if there’s a particular interest you’d love us to find activities around, send that too, along with the age or age range and your town or area. We’d love more finds like World of Wheels for different interests and ages.

Coming next week

We’ll be bringing you our first festive finds, with a closer look at crowds, sound, cost and booking details. Christmas activities for children will be part of it, and we’ll be looking for things teenagers and adults can enjoy too.

Thanks for being here. We’re looking forward to getting to know what you enjoy.

Warm wishes,
Mason & Jen
